PAUSE RAPIDTO NORTH OF BLOOR
THE CITY IS FAST TRACKING CHANGES TO BATHURST STREET WITHOUT LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE AND WORK HERE.
THE RAPIDTO PROJECT IS MOVING AHEAD WITH LITTLE PUBLIC CONSULTATION.
FAMILIES, RESIDENTS, AND SMALL BUSINESSES ARE BEING LEFT OUT OF THE CONVERSATION.

Councilor Dianne Saxe sat down with a handful of us a couple weeks ago. She heard our concerns and she’s asking for more input.
WE ARE YOUR NEIGHBORS.
WE ARE A GROUP OF RESIDENTS, SMALL BUSINESSES, PARENTS, KIDS, TRANSIT RIDERS, CYCLISTS, ATHLETES, DOG AND CAT MOMS, ARTISTS. WE ARE PART OF THIS COMMUNITY.
WE CAME TOGETHER, IN A SCRAMBLE, TO FIGHT FOR WHAT MAKES THE ANNEX AND SEATON VILLAGE SPECIAL. AND THAT TO US IS:
SAFE STREETS FOR OUR KIDS.
A BUSTLING SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY.
AN ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITY TO EVERYONE, BUT ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WE ARE HOME TO LARGEST NUMBER OF 85+ YEAR OLDS IN THE CITY! AND ALSO, A LOT OF 65+.
AND YES! BETTER TRANSIT! BUT THEY ACTUALLY AREN’T GOING TO DELIVER THAT!
THE PROPOSAL OUTLINED BY THE TTC DOESN’T WORK FOR OUR SECTION OF BATHURST. IT DOESN’T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT MAKES THIS AREA GREAT.
IT HINGES ON FALSE DATA, AND A PLAN TO IMPLEMENT BEFORE FIFA WC26 - PRIORITIZING FIFA OVER US.
We are NOT SUMMERHILL.

WHAT WE WANT
-
The original timeline (that didn’t include Bathurst as a priority) assigned each corridor 2-3 years for design, consult, and implementation. AND an ad campaign to raise awareness.
Our consultation started on May 10, 2025, and the survey closed on May 26th. Flyers were sent to 16% of the affected neighborhoods.
The council’s decision on Bathurst is June 17th. With implementation in the fall. It’s simply not enough time.
-
The speed of this project is being driven by a FIFA26 deadline. We think we deserve more information, more engagement, and visibility into the total plan.
St. Clair was blindsided with a pile on of projects that cost the businesses over $100M.
Tell us everything! Please!
-
Not all streets are the same. Not all parts of a street are the same. What seems like a reasonable compromise is to move forward with the plans south of Bloor, and give proper time to design a positive solution along the rest of the corridor.
-
We MUST pause this project north of Bloor. The off-the-cuff solutions from the RapidTO project team aren’t going to work. We NEED more time. We can’t let the city “blockbuster” another neighborhood!
-
The plan, as-is, removes access for many people, essentially removing their ability to participate in society.
We have this highest density of 85+ year olds, and a high concentration 65+.
We are home to over 2000 kids who run and play in our streets.
We have people living with a variety of disabilities - visible and not.
The RapidTO project group owes the disability community, people with low mobility, and how this plan impacts people with children more consideration.
