PROTECT BATHURST
This isn’t just a transit route — it’s our home.
The City is rushing through major changes to Bathurst Street: designating bus-only lanes and removing all street parking 24/7. They have no plan for supporting the thousands of residents and local businesses who rely on curbside access for everyday life. We agree with better transit - but not at the cost of basic access and livability on our streets.
Preserving Bathurst Street: A Balance for Transit, Small Business, and Community
Bathurst Street is more than just a transit corridor—it is a vital lifeline connecting vibrant neighborhoods, long-standing local businesses, and diverse residential communities. While we support efficient and accessible public transportation, the current RapidTO proposal threatens to eliminate vital street access, parking, and delivery zones that essential local services depend on daily.
Removing over 480 parking and loading spaces along Bathurst Street will disproportionately impact independent shops, medical clinics, seniors, and residents with disability accessibility needs. Without dedicated spaces for customer parking, contractor vehicles, and emergency deliveries, our neighborhood hubs risk severe economic disruption and reduced daily livability.
We are calling on the City of Toronto and the TTC to pause implementation and engage in meaningful, transparent consultation with the community. Together, we can develop balanced transit solutions that keep traffic moving safely without compromising the accessibility, character, and economic stability of Bathurst Street.
WHO WE ARE
Protect Bathurst is a group of concerned residents and local businesses who believe we can have both better transit and better neighbourhoods. We want the City to work with the community on solutions that preserve the liveability of our streets. We believe there are solutions that meet everyone’s needs!
WHAT YOU
CAN DO
This decision is bigger than losing curbside parking - this decision will negatively affect small businesses, and it will change the communities we have all worked so hard to build. Speak up now — before Bathurst is changed for the worse.
